New Delhi: The 17th Karmapa of the Karma Kagyu sect of Tibetan Buddhism, Ogyen Trinley Dorje is spearheading the revival of Sanskrit – the language in which several early Buddhist texts had been composed in India before the religion spread to Tibet.

His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa commissioned Shree Vidvan RS Nanda Kumar to set to music sacred Dohas (spiritual songs of realization) attributed to the great Indian Buddhist saints and yogis Saraha and Tilopa. Two of these were performed yesterday during the Karmapa 900 Delhi Celebration.
